Why not get a cubit zirconia? No one will ever know.
She'll find out when she gets the ring fitted for her finger and her matching wedding band and appraised for insurance. OP, honestly you've got some good suggestions, but if you can't afford $1500 for an engagement ring (or god forbid can afford it but don't think it's worth it), maybe you should rethink the whole process. The wedding itself is going to cost at about $5,000 bargain basement. I hate to bring up money when discussing a romantic life event, but really you and your future fiance should discuss finances and the future now ... not put it off til later. You may be on the same page, but you may not be.
Hi, I'm the OP, and I'm actually the "she". :) We are actually planning on spending about $5,000 on the wedding. We will be getting married in Congressional Cemetary in a small ceremony, with a family friend officiating, then we will be having a catered BBQ reception afterward at our house (we've been together for a very long time, and already own a home together). Thanks so everyone for their suggestions! My current top contenders are a herkimer diamond quartz, or a black diamond.
