That's a little skewed, very few private schools have sixth grade as an admission year, nor do many of the desirable charters. Many families who have decided on privates leave public before fifth grade. I would say the measure is how many of the kids who entered kindergarten in 2007 will enter Deal in 2013. At my JKLM school the graduating fifth grade class this year is 30+, when that same cohort were in kindergarten there were ~70 of them.[/quote]

Kids come and go for a variety of reasons that are unrelated to "going private" or "moving to MoCo for the schools." Over the years, some kids do peel off for those reasons. However, the vast majority of children who leave our JKLM are moving out of the area. Your statistic also doesn't take into consideration the number of children who arrived at the school after kindergarten and then subsequently enroll at Deal. Mobility is a two-way street. Whether or not they started in kindergarten, they are enrolling at Deal in huge percentages.[/quote]
