Lol, I guess it just depends what you're used to. Our 1000 sqft place is fine for now but we know once we have a kid it will start to feel cramped. Visited a house this weekend that was over 3000 sqft and it felt enormous! I turned to my husband and asked how on earth we would ever fill this place?! I felt a bit like Goldilocks- find me a 2000 sqft house that we can grow into and I'll be a happy camper!
We put in a contract on a short sale when we were house hunting that was 3300 sf (we lost out to a bid $50K more). That place felt absolutely enormous to us since we had lived in a 1000 sf TH for many years. It really was too much space, so in the end I'm glad we didn't get it. We wound up in just over 2000 sf, and it is still quite spacious. We have rooms we barely use.
