Subject: Cute new small house in mclean
When we were house-hunting a few years ago, we toured the most adorable smaller home in Mclean-a rambler in a neighborhood of other ramblers kind of off Chesterbrook. I don't remember the exact location. Those houses were "smaller".

Beware in Arlington and McLean, while they are very quickly turning from 20/80 old/new, to 80/20 old/new, there are some neighbors that are made crazy, over the edge about this. You will want to try to live next to another new home, if possible.
I don't have to spell this out for you, its fairly obvious by some PPs, that any idea of a new house sends their heads reeling. Which is a little bit amusing by its own

Cute, older homes neighborhood (but changing) near the soccer fields and park. Go for it!

We put in a contract on a short sale when we were house hunting that was 3300 sf (we lost out to a bid $50K more). That place felt absolutely enormous to us since we had lived in a 1000 sf TH for many years. It really was too much space, so in the end I'm glad we didn't get it.
We wound up in just over 2000 sf, and it is still quite spacious. We have rooms we barely use.
