Take the vacation without him if you can't reschedule and plan on doing something different with the child at another time. I feel like time is a limited resource in this area when it comes to kids' activities, especially if the kids have a lot of varied interests. It's possible that this camp was scheduled over another much wanted activity. If you can't take another week off, I don't think he'll mind as long as he gets to spend special time with his family.
