Now that my oldest is 5 I just review rude behaviour all the time with him so he will learn how to cope with rudeness, but not to be innately rude himself (common courtesy stuff like not being loud in public, moving for others without waiting for them to ask, etc). I'll say "mummy should have moved out of the way of those people, but because they spread themselves 4 people wide across the sidewalk, I had nowhere to step but off into the bushes and I didn't want to do that. They should have seen us coming and moved aside, dropping back so their group didn't take up the whole sidewalk ".
