I saw my mother go through something similar though not with prepping. Both my parents were conservatives but not crazy ones until the youngest left for college. My mother became one of those obnoxious, crazy conservatives that is always blaming everyone else, terrified and hateful toward anyone other than people just like her and everything that came out of her mouth lacked any logic. I think it was a combination of having nothing to do all day but watch Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, losing your filter as you get older, and just generally being really unhappy about life but not wanting to take responsibility for it. My father simply found it amusing and since he leaned in that direction and never really paid any attention to what she thought or said anyway it didn't bother him. [/quote]
