Custody cases are litigation. On top of legal fees there are also the costs of experts, psychologists etc. every motion, hearing, brief costs thousands of dollars. Letters back and forth with other counsel. Fees add up very quickly. Knucklehead ex spouses with money to burn churn the process to bury the other side in debt as a strategy. If you're not familiar with contested divorces don't opine here. [/quote]
