Emory>Wake>Tulane though I wouldn't fault any kid for breaking that hierarchy as the differences aren't huge (the gap between Emory and Wake is greater than the gap between Wake and Tulane - they are very close). Historically Wake was less appealing to northern kids but that has been changing. Wake and Tulane are probably a bit more social than Emory.
Hard disagree. Wake and Emory historically ranked in the same 20-30 group by US News for most of the last 3 decades and that includes the ten years Emory admitted to fudging its data. They take the same level of kids at our private. Tulane is a very good school but I’d put it a tier down with Miami.
Wake booster? Any this is delusional, this is Wake's first year having an acceptance rate below 20%. Wake doesnt even release their ED stats, add the 36% transfer acceptance rate. Don't make competition where there isnt one
I don't see many people applying to Emory and Wake. Different schools with different vibes. You can claim Emory is better all day (and it may be, I don't know), but there's very little overlap in the fit venn diagram for these two I think.
What are you talking about? I guarantee there is a ton of overlap. Similar sized schools in the southeast with roughly similar academic profiles, both with undergrad business programs and affiliated with good medical centers. I am sure there is a ton of overlap. Wake has better sports. Emory is in a bigger city. Not huge differences. When we visited Wake we met several families who literally were going straight from there to see Emory (potentially with a stop at Davidson, though that is a significantly smaller school).
I was the previous poster and am a Wake alumnus. I just never run across Emory people, ever. I don't know anyone that applied to Emory. I don't remember anyone mentioning Emory during my time at Wake. As such, I assume not many people are looking seriously at both schools. I know Duke and Carolina alums, Princeton alums, Yale alums, UVA alums, Georgetown, Alabama, Texas, the list goes on. I know Wake people that applied to all of the forgoing schools (regardless of the odds). I don't know if I've ever met someone who went to Emory or talked about applying there. And the cultures of the schools seem pretty different. Hence my conclusion. I do know one person who went to law school at Emory and he was incredibly odd. But n=1 and also it's the law school, not undergrad. I'm sure there are odd people at Wake too. Regardless, I'm not sure this back and forth adds value to the convo. The thread is about people's experience with Wake this year, not shared interest in Wake and Emory.
