UVA may not be the best fit then. Charlottesville is lovely but definitely not urban, and Greek life dominates the social scene the first couple of years. Of course, you can find your people outside of the Greek system and the majority of the student body is not Greek, but anyone who says that it does not impact the overall culture is kidding themselves. I feel like Greek life plays less of a central role at Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. [/quote]

Thanks. That’s my concern. He has several close friends, and many former classmates choosing UVA so I think that can cloud how it fits him personally. I’m trying to instill not choosing based on who you know—which I think he gets—and more on how they fit him personally and what will give him what he needs.

Hopefully, visiting all 3 in a short span of time will be a great comparison. I found with my oldest visiting again as an accepted student a year after original visit made a difference and he very quickly bonded with one of the choices.
