Background: 
VA DOE is required by law to update the standards of learning every 7 years. New standards means new SOL tests. New SOL tests means new scales for passing.

Math: 
The 2009 standards were used for SOL tests from 2012 to 2018.  
The 2017 standards were used for SOL tests from 2019 to current.

Pass cut scores for math were rescaled in 2019 because it was a new test.

Reading 
The 2010 standards were used for SOL tests from 2013 to 2019. 
The 2018 standards were used for SOL tests from 2021 to current. 
(The new SOL wasn’t used in 2020 because no SOLs were given that year.)

Pass cut scores for reading were rescaled in 2020 because it was a new test.
