I have a wedding to attend tomorrow evening. I recently lost weight and needed new dressy heels, but the ones I bought don’t fit, and I am not in the mood to shop tonight. I’m considering just wearing my old, tired dress flats. So boring. But I will be sitting the majority of the time, and you don’t see feet on the dance floor anyway, right?
I have noticed shoes since I was a child. Shoes tell me everything I need to know about a person. Shoes are very, very important. If you look at my shoes, you can see that I'm a middle class person. I buy my shoes mostly at TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack. They are pleasant mid-level brands, nothing fancy, but not cheap either. Look at my shoes, and you can see who I am and where I came from. My best friend, OTOH, wears very high-end brands that she buys in boutiques. She spends about 10 times what I do on a single pair of shoes. She's from a Boston Brahmin family, quite wealthy, beautiful homes, exquisite taste. You can see that she's from a different social class than I am just by looking at her shoes. I suppose I could try to emulate her by buying the brands of shoes she does, but I don't think I'd fool anyone. I'm solidly middle class, and I'm fine with that. Just look at my shoes. OP, go out and buy a nice pair of shoes for the wedding. Don't wear anything shabby. Someone like me will notice.
