Why did the Councilmembers say nothing when Eid was established as a makeup day on the calendar last year? They could have advocated that the day after President’s day be a makeup day or some other non-instructional day but they were silent then and complaining when MCPS is doing what they planned now.

They should have advocated that MCPS have more than one snow day so it wouldn’t be a surprise which day is being used.  Some school districts have four.

For the councilmen to say that they prefer the Eid holiday remains and that they prefer to have a waiver from the state of Maryland so that MCPS shortchanges every kid instructional time shows that these Councilmen haven’t been paying attention to the school calendar and don’t prioritize education.
