I still don't understand the $100 food expense for the entire month even considering your frequent free lunches and breast feeding. The whole month?
Op here. Yes its $100 is for the whole month. My secret weapon is that I grocery shop at Aldi. When I first started I was floored with how much money I was able to save. The day care provides food for the children so DS eats breakfast lunch and dinner there and I just pack and send milk every day. Ive never been a big breakfast person myself but Ive had to force myself to eat breakfast since Ive been nursing to keep up my milk suply. I keep a tub of oats at my desk and Ill usually make a quick bowl of oatmeal in the mornings to hold me over until the frst round of food comes out from the meetings. The first round comes out around 11am and usually consists of orange juice, bottled water, bagels w condiments (butter cream cheese preserves), fresh fruit trays w melon pineapple grapes mango strawberries etc. Some days there are muffins, croissants, pastries. There are also ham and cheese hot breakfast sandwiches, sausage and egg hot sandwhiches, etc. By 11am the orange juice is not as cold as it was in the morning and the bagels are a little hard but I just throw the bagel in the toaster and its as good as new. The second round of food comes out between 2pm and 3pm and this consists of salad with dressing cups on the side, bags of chips (regular salt n vinegar, bar b q and diff types of specialty chips), platter of variety of lunch sandwiches, platter of sweets cookies (sugar choc chp oatmeal) and brownies, bottled water, can sodas. By the time the sandwiches come out the bread is hard but the sandwich still tastes great. This is whats served most of the time but not always sometimes the office will order Mexican fare from Qdoba and there are tacos and burritos and this great type of Sangria mix drink w no alcohol of course. Other days the desserts come from Georgetown cupcakes, for example.
So you're the one hanging outside my meetings pouncing on the left overs? :)
