Honors College -

•	Generally a 4 year program but length depends on which sub community students choose/are placed in.

•	Focus on application of field to real world through hands-on capstone/practicum, and service

•	Primarily housed in the Cambridge Community - all halls: Bel Air, Cambridge, Centreville, Chestertown, Cumberland

•	Earn citation on transcript upon completion

FIRE -

•	Generally a 1.5 year (3 semester program)

•	Made up of 16 “streams” - (streams are specific research groups/teams) - Students preference streams -https://www.fire.umd.edu/streams

•	Focuses on engaging new students in a faculty-mentored research experience

•	Earn citation on transcript upon completion

•	No specific housing/residence halls

BioFIRE -

•	Part of the FIRE Community (see above) but with a biological sciences focus and living component.

•	Housed in Somerset Hall

Carillon Communities-

•	Generally a 1 year program with course requirements completed in the first semester

•	Focus on answering “big questions” through teamwork and creative problem solving

•	3 Sub communities based around the general education course students take in the first semester

•	Students rank preference of the community placement options
