We did not do an official visit (had been to campus earlier but not on a tour or anything). I do think that probably makes a difference here. Relatedly, I don't think my DC blew anyone's doors off with their "Why Wisconsin" essay as some others clearly did.

And to the person who suggested this was to "cope" - that's silly. I just was reporting my DC's stats so people can get a sense of the profile of someone who was deferred. No coping necessary. Some things work out, some don't. It also wouldn't be silly to believe that they had a reason to believe my DC might not go - zero connection to the school and high stats, so my DC is likely to have other opportunities. And if I were in the school's position, I might very well do the same thing.[/quote]
