it's a lot easier if you have other apps semi-ready to go.
But how do you get your child to work on RD apps over the next week without it seeming like 'My parents don't think I'm getting in to my ED'. I really hope they get in, but also want to be realistic knowing how rejective the school is.
Mine submitted a number of additional schools the same night they submitted their ED. Once the Common App essay was done, it was easy to follow up additional school supplementals as a matter of course. It wasn’t about “not believing in my kid”, more that we’ve talked in depth about just how tight their ED is so of course they would submit other apps just in case… This also takes away the fright of “I’m screwed if I don’t get into my ED”. Love The Schools That Love You Back has been trademarked in our house. I say it early and often. I want my kid to know I’m proud of their hardwork and that I won’t be disappointed if they don’t get into their ED school. But yeah, I’m obviously crossing all of my fingers and toes for them. Mid-December can’t come soon enough, more so they know their path either way. Two weeks from the 12/01 app deadlines we’ll know what’s-what.
