The vast majority of Fed positions do not come with a statement that the role is "essential" or not. Every shutdown, every snow day, every everything, managers come up with a new list of who must work. Second, don't confuse fair with legal. I fully expect to see a class action lawsuit at the end of the shutdown to see if is legal to withhold pay from those working and those who are told to be ready to return with no notice.[/quote]
