Disagree.

The EA round leads to a lot of deferrals either because of the sheer volume of applicants or desire to weigh the application against those received in RD.

Our mistake a couple of years ago was expecting acceptances or rejections based on the EA app. DC was deferred to the RD round everywhere that was competitive. [/quote]

I posted that. Been through this twice.

Private high school. One kid had many EA deferrals (male, oversubscribed STEM major with strong test scores). Other kid (female, undersubscribed humanities major, TO) got int EVERYWHERE EA early (think Michigan, UVA, Wisconsin, UNC, etc).
