Disagree.

The EA round leads to a lot of deferrals either because of the sheer volume of applicants or desire to weigh the application against those received in RD.

Our mistake a couple of years ago was expecting acceptances or rejections based on the EA app. DC was deferred to the RD round everywhere that was competitive.
I posted that. Been through this twice.

Private high school. One kid had many EA deferrals (male, oversubscribed STEM major with strong test scores). Other kid (female, undersubscribed humanities major, TO) got int EVERYWHERE EA early (think Michigan, UVA, Wisconsin, UNC, etc).

Anomaly? I think not.
Yes, anomaly. Boys usually better than girls regardless of major.
That is weird, the female would have been more likely to get deferred.
____________

For the above, agree. The female should have been deferred.
It was the major.

All the former AOs who host podcasts have said openly that, for STEM in EA for flagships, they only admit the very most competitive applicants. And then they are looking to supplement in RD.

Much easier for a humanities major in EA.

Ignore this at your peril. Search YCBK for more discussion. People on here are clueless.

This year should be easier than last year.

Agree, that has been the case for the last five years.
