LOL! Just take these self reports with a grain of salt, OP. We had our parent-teacher conference this week and the teacher said that MAP scores were all over the place for AAP kids at our center school - anywhere from 40th percentile to 99th - and that all the kids were doing great!
Most people are going to happily report high scores and are less likely to report lower scores, especially on a forum for advance academic programs. The people posting here probably have kids with higher test scores and grades. Parents want their kids in the 90th percentile or higher because that is the top 10% of the country. Teachers understand that most kids are going to be far lower than that and will be comfortable with kids in the 75th percentile, potentially even lower than that. I would guess that teachers are not going to be worried until kids hit the 60th percentile or lower, only because the scores are based on the norms across the country. Parents don't want to hear that their kid is in the 75th percentile or the 65th percentile or the 80th percentile.
