[/quote] Eh, I think people pay a lot more attention to Michigan and UVA than to schools like Lehigh and Rochester. I’ll concede that HYPSM would remain relevant. But a lot of other privates are getting a boost from being ranked “above” your state’s highest-ranked public school. Take away that ranking and you have the LAC problem: why exactly are you paying 2-3x the price for a name most people have never heard of? Meanwhile the big state schools will all remain relevant and well-known in their home states, regardless of rankings. [/quote]
