Kenyon, Denison and Oberlin were popular with boarding school kids that weren’t looking at Ivies back in the 80s. I think people are avoiding Ohio now and other SLACs have risen.
I don't know about Kenyon or Oberlin, but I have a kid at Denison, and I have been surprised by the number of boarding school graduates. I don't think it has gone down in popularity with that crowd at all. My son has friends from Los Angeles to Martha's Vineyard. A lot are very wealthy. Denison's admit rate this year was 19% (up from 17%) the year before. Ohio has many excellent schools. Miami made the LinkedIn Top Colleges 2025: The 50 best colleges for long-term career success in the U.S. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/linkedin-top-colleges-2025-50-best-long-term-career-success-kritf/
