Are the new teachers, counselors, and administrators experienced? For example, if you are hiring a math teacher for calculus, have they ever taught calculus before? If they hire a new counselor, do they have high school experience with all the ins and outs about college applications? If they hire a new administrator, do they have any experience in a leadership role, or are they first time administrators.

I think they take what they can get as long as they are certified by Maryland. DD was taught Calculus by a teacher who hadn't taught it in 20 years and told us at back to school night that he would be re-learning it along with his students. She and other students were constantly going to the math resource teacher for reteaching and regrading-for real![/quote]
And somehow MCPS thinks it can replicate Blair STEM magnet across five other different regions.   They can't find enough qualified calc teachers, let alone mvc  teachers.[/quote]
