They would order Door Dash, goof around. When counselors would send them to class, kids said they were racist. So admin told them they weren’t allowed to send kids back to class and to let them hang out. Kids bragged that they could just write a letter calling a teacher racist and get them fired.

Sadly, his beloved counselor has now also left. She was amazing! I think he’s more bothered by this loss then the others as he’s a rising senior and didn’t expect it.
The new principal is excellent so I’m surprised so many chose to leave. It probably didn’t help that they waited so long to make the announcement.
Did that many people leave because of the uncertainty of not knowing who the new principal would be?
I have no idea but I suspect that could have been a factor. Things were a mess under the old principal who was replaced with an interim principal Dr Bostic. I assume most staff gave notice without knowing the interim principal would be made permanent.

This only means what jobs are still open, not how many have been posted and filled.
So 90% of a sudden burst of openings filled? I guess the jobs are still desirable.
Are the new teachers, counselors, and administrators experienced? For example, if you are hiring a math teacher for calculus, have they ever taught calculus before? If they hire a new counselor, do they have high school experience with all the ins and outs about college applications? If they hire a new administrator, do they have any experience in a leadership role, or are they first time administrators.
Just because you can fill the job does not mean that all is well. That being said, we will need to wait and see.
I think they take what they can get as long as they are certified by Maryland. DD was taught Calculus by a teacher who hadn't taught it in 20 years and told us at back to school night that he would be re-learning it along with his students. She and other students were constantly going to the math resource teacher for reteaching and regrading-for real!
