I'm French, living in the DC area. We've had a military parade for our Fête Nationale on July 14th ever since the end of WWI, so I'm certainly not against such a display. However, it doesn't look good to hold one of the very rare military parades the US has ever had, on the President's birthday! Not good optics at all.
It's also the 250th anniversary of the US Army.
There is a separate celebration planned for the Army. The parade is for the orange 💩.
Totally. The parade route is just under .9 miles from the Lincoln past the White House and then it ends. The only seating is right in front of the White House with the Washington Monument as the backdrop. So the White House is the focal point and it is all about Trump. And crazy amounts of security for an event that should feel more like 4th of July. I think it's disgusting (and I'm from a military family) and will be at a No Kings event.
