We engaged with all safe and target schools via online info sessions, regional admission events, etc. For ex, Case Western came to nyc last August and made my kid register and go. Then sent a follow up email to admissions asking a genuine question about x opportunity. Kid applied ea, was accepted with significant merit and we didn't even apply for FA. For oos publics, we did online sessions. For schools like tulane and wake, which are explicit about demonstrated interest, we made an actual visit and set up mtgs withfsculty. . Accepted to both, ea and rd resoectively. (And with merit,). Just make an effort and don't cut and paste essays. They matter. We put the work in, and kid got into all safe/targets and several reach
That’s fine, but Tulane and Wake aren’t safeties for most students so these examples aren’t really relevant to this thread.
That's a fair comment. I only mentioned as examples of schools that look for DI. That said, kid did engage with all safe schools. S. Carolina, Pitt, wisconsin, etc. Lots of ways to interact with schools without making a physical visit. Getting more school info also helps with those pesky honors college essays and special scholarship essays.
