It's not a safety just because you gave it that designation and your kid got in.
It's a safety for super high stats kids from our magnet program.
No it's a likely school for everyone. At my kids magnet school they said no one should assume they are getting in.

UMD also not a safety and does not value demonstrated interest.
Look at the CDS to see if whatever "safety" you are thinking about values demonstrated interest. These are generally all private colleges and will be looking to potential yield protect. Supposedly attending virtual sessions works but you are at the mercy of the school to accurate track your interest. Scammy practice if you ask me.

That’s fine, but Tulane and Wake aren’t safeties for most students so these examples aren’t really relevant to this thread.
That's a fair comment. I only mentioned as examples of schools that look for DI. That said, kid did engage with all safe schools. S. Carolina, Pitt, wisconsin, etc. Lots of ways to interact with schools without making a physical visit. Getting more school info also helps with those pesky honors college essays and special scholarship essays.
