They have cut the VA! My friend just spent a week in the ICU at the VA. Family had to bring toilet paper to use. No one was there to restock and clean. It was a mess. Most doctors were RIF’ed. After a week in ICU, the hospital administrator overseeing care couldn’t diagnose the problem. Too bad to the vets! If they want decent care, go see a private doctor.[/quote]

But vets don't actually want that.  They don't want to go anywhere to any doctor, they want to go to the VA where doctors are familiar with vets and their issues.  Vets want to go to a good VA, not to any doctor.[/quote]

Good luck getting good treatment on private insurance. 5 minute physical that gets billed as a “problem” visit the second you start talking about the ringing in your ears and has you leaving with a stack of referrals for specialists whose first appointment is six months from now. That’s what medicine is for the common folk these days. People who want better need to pony up for concierge. [/quote]
