The ballooned spending meant avoiding a recessions while also growing the GDP and actually investing in US infrastructure. This. The problem is real, but the 'solutions' are BS. The problem is being exploited as a justification for cuts sought out of ideology, grievance, or retribution.

People who are getting funds cut will say anything. I didn't hear anyone complaining about Biden's cuts, oh wait he didn't make any.

Right, because economists and history show us that you spend your way out of economic catastrophe, which is why the US economy was the envy of the world when Biden left office. So what is happening now? Elon gets more money from NASA and USDOT while poor kids in the midwest, south and Appalachia go without doctors or medicine.

I get the reasons for space research, and we should pursue it. But life on earth -- addressing cancer *and* protecting our natural environment -- is by far the priority.

Why would anyone ever want to set up colonies or whatever on Mars? If a barren, dusty, planet where a human can never go outside of the pod seems more appealing than Earth, then we have really, really screwed up here.

That's Elon Musk and Bezos former liberals. I don't think that is a Maga thing. We have plenty of better options here like Antartica and the Sea.

But anyhow, why hasn't it dawned on him that if he thinks we can terraform, green and colonize Mars, shouldn't we first be working to fix earth right here, for far less money?

So why not just reduce it to pre-COVID levels? Why the cuts to the Veterans Administration and their hospitals as well as rural hospitals?

They have cut the VA! My friend just spent a week in the ICU at the VA. Family had to bring toilet paper to use. No one was there to restock and clean. It was a mess. Most doctors were RIF’ed. After a week in ICU, the hospital administrator overseeing care couldn’t diagnose the problem. Too bad to the vets! If they want decent care, go see a private doctor.

Trump wants Vets to be able to go where they want because VA has been horrible

But vets don't actually want that. They don't want to go anywhere to any doctor, they want to go to the VA where doctors are familiar with vets and their issues. Vets want to go to a good VA, not to any doctor.
