Your late 19th century tariffs ultimately led to WWI and the Great Depression. And even if Republicans wanted a closed economy with little trade or competition, it would literally take decades for the US to detangle from the global economy and build new domestic factories and mines. In the meantime, you get wars and great depressions. Which seems to be where Republicans are taking us. [/quote]
