You are misinformed. FCPS is one of the few districts in the County that moves a decent percentage of students into Algebra 1 in 7th grade. Math 7 is pre-Algebra and it is being taught to 6th graders. The IAAT that they are given is to test their preparedness for Algebra, a class that the majority of students in the US who are considered Advanced in math will take in 8th grade and a large percentage of the country will noit take until 9th grade. Have you lived anywhere else with 5/6th graders? Don’t say someone is misinformed when you don’t know. This is a national test and other places have kids in Algebra in 7th. The only real distinction is that FCPS doesn’t allow everyone to take the test because advanced math is gatekept.
