Hear me out. I started wearing a midi length sleeveless dress (Arcteryx Veilance Pallister Dress) on flights. If it's cold I'll wear merino wool leggings and merino wool short or long sleeve T shirt underneath. It's nice not to have a waistband to deal with. The skirt part is wide enough to tuck my legs into when sleeping, so it's another way to stay warm. If it's warm on disembarking then I'll remove the merino wool and just wear the dress. It works for me.
I do this too. I have a merino wool Uniqlo midi dress, but mine is long sleeved. It keeps me warm on the plane and looks decent enough. Plus tights and booties in the winter.
