Peer groups from top schools are not really what’s needed for entrepreneurship. You’d be better off just looking for funding from VCs. It doesn’t matter that your undergrad roommate’s family is rich or you have tons of UMC buddies there—- that’s not how you build a business and become an entrepreneur.
Bullcrap…Sure nobody said that is what is NEEDED for entrepreneurship. Plus it depends on a million factors. What industry, location, etc etc etc. But to pretend wealthy buddies do not matter is very naive…..A wealthy buddy is not going to fund the whole growth….but will help you kickstart the business before it gets to the point it s ready for VC funding. This is exactly what happened to me and several of my friends. Half of them started their business with college buddies that were wealthy that helped them get to the next level before VC funding took over. Don’t be naive…. I’m willing to bet small wealthy private schools do a LOT better on startup per capita than massive state universities.
