Timothy said in an interview that he worked on the movie for five years as it was shut down during the pandemic,
I was referring to another interview but he said something f similar in this interview https://www.npr.org/2024/12/25/nx-s1-5205312/timothee-chalamet-talks-about-playing-bob-dylan-in-the-new-movie-a-complete-unknown#:~:text=CHALAMET%3A%20...Turned%20into,walk%20and%20move%20like%20him. CHALAMET: ...Turned into a five-year process where I feel I've almost turned over every stone available to me now. CHANG: I mean, just so people understand, you had to learn how to sing like Dylan, talk like Dylan, play guitar like Dylan, play harmonica like him, walk and move like
Yes, Chalamet worked on it for 5 years, but it was all shot this year, so the idea that his voice is rusty in the beginning of the movie because it took 5 years to make isn’t right.
The movie took five years to make. For whatever reason: for the first half the movie, I wished they had used BD’s real music and got TC to lip sync. Only by the second half did I feel like TC hit his stride and was convincing as BD the singer. TC’s acting was convincing throughout as BD the artistic enigma but wish we had gotten a better sense of BD the human. Probably would have been hard as TC did not get to meet him during filming and only attended two concerts so all he had to go off was the public image. TC is clearly a gifted actor. I hope he and Ed Norton get Oscar noms. Also whoever created the retro Greenwich Village film sets.
