I saw it yesterday. It was well made and evocative. It could have used a bit more of an edit to bring the storyline, such as it was, into focus.

The acting and cinematography were excellent.

Yes, Chalamet worked on it for 5 years, but it was all shot this year, so the idea that his voice is rusty in the beginning of the movie because it took 5 years to make isn’t right.

The movie took five years to make.

For whatever reason: for the first half the movie, I wished they had used BD’s real music and got TC to lip sync. Only by the second half did I feel like TC hit his stride and was convincing as BD the singer.

TC’s acting was convincing throughout as BD the artistic enigma but wish we had gotten a better sense of BD the human. Probably would have been hard as TC did not get to meet him during filming and only attended two concerts so all he had to go off was the public image.

TC is clearly a gifted actor. I hope he and Ed Norton get Oscar noms. Also whoever created the retro Greenwich Village film sets.

Good movie. I read that BD was happy with Timothy Chalemet's performance.

I wanted more on his marriage to Sara but i get that came later in time. I think "Sara" is such a great love song and the absolute best divorce song. A brilliant lyricist.
