I find it strange when people ask a sports question prefaced by “my kid is an elite athlete in sport X” and then ask basic recruiting questions. I don’t know any elite athlete families that need to pose questions on DCUM. Those families are in the rarified position of sifting through double-digit D1 offers and just figuring out which one to select. Look at Team Durant…the Sidwell kid just committed to play basketball at Kentucky and had like 30 offers. His teammate last year is playing for Georgetown and also had over 20 offers. I get basketball is different from swimming…but I doubt the process was much different for Katie Ledecky (or any Olympic swimmer or any swimmer just missing the cut…you know, an elite athlete).
Yep, especially when they don’t even post stats.
My guess is OP has a current 8th-10th grader who they expect will keep getting faster (no guarantee) and they know is not a straight A student. For swimming, you can be elite in 8,9th grade and then others pass you by B4 recruiting gets going. It’s also about what you consider elite, which OP is not sharing. But you can be a solid D1 recruit without being an Olympian (particularly as a woman)
