My daughter is in Girl Scouts and they meet about twice per month. Cub Scouts usually met 3-4x per month. The biggest difference I see is that Cub Scouts had entire pack meetings monthly and often an all pack outing (pinewood derby, hiking, camping) in addition to the grade level meetings and outings. How often do your scouts meet?
That's the model for Boy Scouts , now called Scouting. There's a lot to learn and accomplish. Twice a month doesn't cut it.
it is NOT called "Scouting". Just because your organization changes its name every year and happened to spend millions purchasing scouting.org doesn't mean that you can take over the term scouting. Girl Scouts are also Scouts.
1. The organization you are discussing here is actually indeed now called "Scouting America," with the rebrand already ongoing and the last stage of it happening in February 2025. It includes Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Explorers, Sea Scouts, and STEM Scouts. All types and levels can and do involve girls/women. 2. Girl Scouts is a different and separate organization.
I have kids in both. #1 is way more active than #2. I think it has to do with different philosophies of leadership (for both adults and kids), as well as unit personalities. As long as they're thriving it's fine with me.
