I grew up around here and see parents I knew in high school who are now in their 50s posting pics of hanging out at Dewey bars and college tailgates/bars proudly drinking away with their college children. I think it is very immature and just terrible for their health.
Heh. My husband and I (both 52) joined our daughter for a tailgate at a Michigan football game last weekend. There may have been drinking games. My daughter had no clue I even knew how to play beer pong, let alone my skills 🤣 We're certainly not doing that every weekend, but life is just too short to be perfectly mature and healthy all the time.
We've done similarly. One off events, and we model responsible behavior (never drive) and don't make fools of ourselves, but we might drink a little more than we would normally. It's one of the fun things about having older children. But I get this doesn't work for everyone and if you have bad drunks/alcoholics in your family this would seem like a horrible choice. I have a BIL who gets super beligerent every time he's drunk, but thank goodness he doesn't have kids.
