Skip breakfast. Sensible lunch and sensible dinner. No seconds. No gluten. No sugar. And absolutely no snacking.
This is SUCH a load of crap. Please don't listen to this person.
Which part do you take issue with? For me, it’s not “crap.” Before switching to this I was 35 lbs over weight, maxed out bp medicine, and doctor said if that didn’t work he was going to have to put me on insulin. Within 6 months I dropped to a healthy bmi and came off blood pressure meds. That was 2015.
1) skipping meals. There is no need to skip meals. If it's something that works for you, fine. But you absolutely do not have to skip meals in order to lose weight. Especially if you only plan to do it in the short term. I lost 70 lbs (posted above) and never skipped meals. 2) No gluten. This is such a stupid fad. Unless you have celiac there is no need to avoid gluten and it certainly has nothing to do with weight loss. I eat good quality sourdough bread and do just fine. 3) absolutely no snacking. Why? that's just stupid. a healthy snack or veggies and fruits is certainly not going to harm your weight loss prospects but starving yourself certainly will. 4) no sugar. Plenty of sugar in fruits. It's the added sugars and processed foods that are the problem. So, while I believe you that you lost weight by skipping meals, for most people that would lead to gaining the weight back because it's not sustainable.
I think we’re closer to agreement than first appeared. 1. I think 2 meals a day are enough. For me, breakfast is the best one to skip, but I know people that eat breakfast and don’t have lunch. We are creatures descended from food scarcity feast/famine lifestyles and it’s actually good for your body to go 12 hours without eating. It helps regulate blood sugar and metabolism as well. 2. Your body converts gluten to glucose, which spikes blood sugar and causes inflammation. 10-15 percent of the population has either celiacs or a wheat allergy. It’s not a stupid fad. 3. No snacking is about calorie control and training your body live without always being satiated. Like eating only 2 meals a day, it helps your body regulate itself, rather than using food intake to regulate. 4. Yes, meant processed/added sugars. I eat an apple a day as my lunch dessert. I’ve found that once you get used to the 2 meals and no snacking lifestyle it’s incredibly easy to maintain, because your body is conditioned to regulate itself and doesn’t freak out if you don’t consume food every few hours. Heck sometimes I’m in meetings or traveling and don’t get lunch, and am just eating my first meal of day at dinner. I no longer know the meaning of “hangry.”
1) if you don't eat anything after dinner at 7 and then eat a healthy breakfast at 7 or 7:30 that's 12 hours. So no need to skip breakfast. 2) We have been consuming wheat for thousands of years with no problem. Good quality sourdough is good for you and doesn't cause inflammation. 10-15% of the population most certainly does not have celiac which would be the ONLY reason not to consume gluten. So yes, I still think it's a stupid fad. 3) a healthy diet is not about training yourself to be hungry. It's about making good food choices. So if you feel really hungry it's better to have a snack and be able to eat a healthy meal for dinner, rather than starve and overeat at the next meal. 4) glad we can agree that not all sugar is bad.
