Load up on wild/grass fed proteins- salmon, eggs, meat etc…
Load up on healthy fats - olive oil, avocados, coconut oil
Load up on fiber heavy legumes, seeds, nuts
But things like sweet potato, cassava flour for carbs instead of white bread etc…
Make sure your meals are fat, protein, fiber heavy. Chew your food well, eat in a relaxed environment.
For snacking stick to nuts and fruits.
The 20 pounds will come off and this lifestyle is sustainable because you will not be starving yourself and you will feel satisfied and nourished.

Skipping meals works for me. Doesn't have to be breakfast, but it's when I'm not hungry. I'd crash and feel all stuffed if I was made to eat one. Skipped it as a kid too as mom was already at work.

Wheat has been crossbred in the U.S. and Canada to have much higher yields per acre so gluten levels are much higher per amount that what we evolved to. If you’re using heirloom French or Italian wheat that’s a different story.
3. That’s the weird thing. Once you get used to not snacking, you don’t get hungry between meals. I actually get a burst of energy at traditional snack times…one around 10 am and another around 3:30. And I have found it makes it easier to make good food choices because “I don’t snack” so I’m not looking to or expecting to eat between meals.

Which part do you take issue with? For me, it’s not “crap.” Before switching to this I was 35 lbs over weight, maxed out bp medicine, and doctor said if that didn’t work he was going to have to put me on insulin. Within 6 months I dropped to a healthy bmi and came off blood pressure meds. That was 2015.
1) skipping meals. There is no need to skip meals. If it's something that works for you, fine. But you absolutely do not have to skip meals in order to lose weight. Especially if you only plan to do it in the short term. I lost 70 lbs (posted above) and never skipped meals.
2) No gluten. This is such a stupid fad. Unless you have celiac there is no need to avoid gluten and it certainly has nothing to do with weight loss. I eat good quality sourdough bread and do just fine.
3) absolutely no snacking. Why? that's just stupid. a healthy snack or veggies and fruits is certainly not going to harm your weight loss prospects but starving yourself certainly will.
4) no sugar. Plenty of sugar in fruits. It's the added sugars and processed foods that are the problem.
So, while I believe you that you lost weight by skipping meals, for most people that would lead to gaining the weight back because it's not sustainable.
I think we’re closer to agreement than first appeared.
1. I think 2 meals a day are enough. For me, breakfast is the best one to skip, but I know people that eat breakfast and don’t have lunch. We are creatures descended from food scarcity feast/famine lifestyles and it’s actually good for your body to go 12 hours without eating. It helps regulate blood sugar and metabolism as well.
2. Your body converts gluten to glucose, which spikes blood sugar and causes inflammation. 10-15 percent of the population has either celiacs or a wheat allergy. It’s not a stupid fad.
3. No snacking is about calorie control and training your body live without always being satiated. Like eating only 2 meals a day, it helps your body regulate itself, rather than using food intake to regulate.
4. Yes, meant processed/added sugars. I eat an apple a day as my lunch dessert.
I’ve found that once you get used to the 2 meals and no snacking lifestyle it’s incredibly easy to maintain, because your body is conditioned to regulate itself and doesn’t freak out if you don’t consume food every few hours. Heck sometimes I’m in meetings or traveling and don’t get lunch, and am just eating my first meal of day at dinner. I no longer know the meaning of “hangry.”
