It would be fine if there is an opt-in system (if you want your kid to participate, here are the dues). It would be fine if it were a coordinated order where people choose what they want, pay for it, and a parent picks it up and delivers it to school. Frankly, this sounds easier and better. Surely most kids would put pressure on parents to participate, but that's a whole different thing. But any kind of mandatory fee (the email clearly indicates it is not voluntary and the coach is cited as part of it) should not be part of an MCPS team.
