In greater Philly, my friend's private school bus is free. She was shocked that people in the DMV have to pay for transportation separate from tuition.
Someone won a lawsuit in PA and NJ years ago re: free transportation to school. We were bused to our private schools 30 years ago.
It’s the law in Pennsylvania that public school districts are required to bus children in their district to any private school within 10 miles (I think—don’t quote me) from the edge of the district. It’s a huge expense for districts. Our small school district buses to more than 100 schools including lots of expensive prep schools whose families could pay for a shuttle. that makes no sense. What principle of law underpins a right to a shuttle bus to a private school that is a luxury and that you don't have to go to at all? Can I sue because the Nationals don't provide me a shuttle bus to get to their games, to which I have season tickets in a suite? Or maybe I'll sue the Kennedy Center, for not picking me up in Chevy Chase to whisk me to my operas during the seaons?
