No it isn't hypocritical at all.

Students need to do their own writing because they are at school, in part, to learn to write.  That's not why the principal is there.

inwrote the response above re drama club example and i think you do have a pt actually. there is value in not letting the drama club send a notice w chat gpt i suppose.

but there is a difference between a welcome letter & notice of tryouts vs creative writing & a paper on why the french revolution's effect on global uprising has been overexaggerated.

*that said the welcome letter is usually written as an authentic expression of the school leaders vision and personal feelings about the upcoming year so i would judge it being used in this way i think. it is the one time you see this "voice"
