I grew up with a jerk mother who loved mercurochrome. It stung so bad. I used to hide any cut or scrape and run to a friend or neighbors house to get bactine or soap and water and then hide it from her. Neosporin is great!
Oh man. The mere thought of Bactine was the worst for me! I used to always come home with sidewalk rash on my knees, hands, and elbows and would SCREAM bloody murder whenever the bactine appeared in my mom’s hand. My grandmother just went at us with soap & water, which was so easy and effective. I mostly do that for my kid, too, but we do also use neosporin if something looks sketchy. And peroxide if there’s little dirt specks that seem otherwise impossible to clean.
