Vaseline works just as well in helping to heal cuts and scrapes.

+1
Medicine is moving away from using it. Clean with soap and water and Vaseline if you feel you need to cover it. That’s it.

Trained first aider - school nurse assistant: we don’t even stock Neosporin nor any topicals - not even Vaseline. Soap and water wash only.

I grew up with mercurochrome. LOL. Then it was Neosporin.

Now my dermatologist and ER doctor brother-in-law recommend just cleaning cuts and using Aquafor.

I disagree that soap and water are sufficient, just to make sure you don't get an infection, maybe. But vaseline/neosporin protect the skin while it is healing so you don't scar. I find neosporin to be better at it but vaseline is ok too.

Oh man. The mere thought of Bactine was the worst for me! I used to always come home with sidewalk rash on my knees, hands, and elbows and would SCREAM bloody murder whenever the bactine appeared in my mom’s hand.

My grandmother just went at us with soap & water, which was so easy and effective. I mostly do that for my kid, too, but we do also use neosporin if something looks sketchy. And peroxide if there’s little dirt specks that seem otherwise impossible to clean.

My dermatologist recommends polysporin instead
