If you want walkable check out Shorewood and Whitefish Bay, although those are in Milwaukee County and have insane property taxes. You'd usually have to jump fast at anything $500K or under. Lots to do on Lake Michigan, so easy to get doctor appointments (compared to DMV), Milwaukee airport is a breeze, although need to go to Ohare for most international travel. Many activities for kids, cheap, clean public pools. [/quote]
