I do think the divisional lanes can be kind of random. Eg at an a meet the coach is maximizing points. So maybe the kid on the top of the ladder usually swims back and fly, but they really want to swim free,so now there are two fly spots open. (Bc kid gets to pick for divisionals). As noted by another poster often Im goes unfilled, but occasionally this doesn’t work. Eg my kid was 3rd in I’m this year and fully expected to get one of the I’m spots, but both kids above kid chose to swim I’m. [/quote]
