You are paid the government rate for the area where you live. So if you telework from Kansas or Florida, you now get that rate. One of my dh's coworkers wants to move back to NYC and work remotely, but the federal government doesn't give you the more expensive area's pay rate, our HR just refuses to let you telework from higher cost areas.
