MCPS needs to crack down on discipline. Folks should know there is zero tolerance for this sort of behavior. It is not fair to the 95% of decent kids who just want a normal high school experience. Why does MCPS allow a small number of miscreants to run the show?
It’s hilarious that you think 95% of the kids are “decent kids who just want a normal high school experience.” You have it backwards. It’s more like 5% are decent and 95% are problematic. You clearly haven’t stepped foot inside a school in some time. This past year was a nightmare for most teachers, not just in MCPS but everywhere in the country. Parents aren’t parenting anymore. Kids have no consequences at school or at home. When phone calls are made to parents regarding their kids’ behaviors, most don’t care. That’s if they bother to give you accurate contact info in the first place. It’s really sad to witness the decline of society.
The ceremony waa lovely. Everyone was really happy. We left right after, didnt see any fight. I would say it's more like 99% of the kids and families are not going to start fights like this. What should one do about the other 1%? Well, by "restorative justice," I hope you mean not letting the parties involved anywhere near the high school again. It makes me really angry, having our kid's four years be such an amazing experience at Kennedy, to see a diverse high school with so many kids from so many different places do so much, and still get associated with a few violent idiots, who probably felt "disrepected" because someone shoved them in a crowd.
It's the same picture.
